There’s nothing more convenient than transferring the memory card from your digital camera to digital photo frames to create instantly framed photos.  This digital photo frame made by Coby goes a step further to include sound files, and digital video playback.

The Coby DP848 photo frame plays MP3 and WAV sound files, and AVI, MPG, and XviD video files.  The frame has an 8.4 inch LCD screen with 800×600 resolution, and a 500:1 contrast ratio.  There are options for creating a slide show set to music, and built-in stereo speakers.

The Coby digital frame, available at J&R, also includes a remote control, a 5 in 1 card reader,  and a headphone jack. You can mount the frame on a wall or place it on the included stand.

Digital Photo to DVD Converter

If you’re like me, you’ve got a digital camera and multiple SD cards, each full of 900 digital photos, waiting to go somewhere–but where?  Here’s a cool gadget for getting all those digital pictures on to DVDs that you can play and enjoy.

The Digital Photo to DVD Converter takes the files from your digital camera memory card and transfers them to CDs.  You can choose to save the files as JPGs or in a DVD slideshow format.  The converter works without a computer, but you can also use it with your computer as an external CD burner.  It also comes with the necessary cables for hooking up directly to your television.  The converter accepts several types of photo storage devices, including compact flash, smart media, memory stick, secure digital, and multi media cards.  I found the Digital Photo to DVD Converter at Hammacher Schlemmer for $199.

Waterproof video camera

Can’t seem to keep your video camera dry? The Sanyo Xacti E1 digital video camera might be just the trick. It’s a waterproof video camera that can handle being submersed in 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Using a 2GB SD card, the waterproof camera will record up to 10 hours of video or 4,000 still shots. The Xacti E1 video camera offers a 5x zoom lens,a 2.5 inch swiveling LCD monitor, and automatic image stabilization.

My favorite feature of this digital video camera is the ability to shoot still photos while filming video. Simply hit the shutter button while the video continues to roll. That means not having to choose between video and once in a lifetime photo opportunities.

The Xacti E1 digital video camera easily synchs with your PC, offering drag and drop options for moving and saving videos.
