Olympus Digital Camera with Tap Control
Olympus digital cameras seem to be appealing more and more to the extreme sports and outdoors crowds. This one got my attention because of the built in tap control. The camera responds to a tap anywhere on the body, so that you can operate it without fumbling around for the button-ideal if you’re wearing gloves or moving quickly.

Paper Photograph to Digital File Converter
Remember way back when….before digital cameras and before pocket camcorders, when people actually used film and 35mm cameras to capture their memories? If you remember those days, then chances are you’ve got stacks of old photos laying around, or in albums. I’ve always talked about using a photo scanner to convert my old paper pictures to digital files for preservation purposes, but the whole idea seemed slow and cumbersome.
The gadget above looks like a fix for the problem. The photograph to digital picture converter instantly captures the image of a paper picture and stores it as a digital image. Slide the paper photo into a tray, and hit the copy button, and that’s it. Rather than scanning the image, the photo converter works like a digital camera, and shoots an image of your entire photo with a 5MP CMOS. There’s a USB attachment for moving the digital files to your computer. The Photograph to Digital Picture Converter is available at Hammacher Schlemmer for $149.

GPS for Dummies
Have you ever read any of the “For Dummies” books? There are dozens, maybe hundreds, of them that give advice on everything from laptops and digital cameras to how to take care of your pets. Now you can get that same “For Dummies” style in a GPS system. As far as I know, GPS Navigation for Dummies is the first electronic gadget that’s designed to mimic the famous “For Dummies” series.
The GPS for Dummies unit can include up to 4 million points of interest, and is equipped with text to speech capabilities. In true “For Dummies” style the GPS system features a simple, icon-centered navigation system. The unit, actually a GPS Navigation Device FD-350, comes equipped with an internal GPS antenna and 20 channel SirF Star III chipset.
I found GPS Navigation for Dummies at Dell for $229.

Kodak EasyShare M1073
Here’s a reasonably priced Kodak digital camera with impressive features including face detection capabilities. With face detection, the digital camera automatically recognizes faces and adjusts settings to achieve the best images. The Kodak M1073 10.2 MP camera also sports a 3X optical zoom, and “burst mode” which fires a rapid succession of 4 shots for capturing objects or people in motion.
The high resolution of this Kodak 10.2 MP face detection digital camera means you can use it for poster size prints up to 30X40 inches. There’s also a panoramic stitch mode, which allows users to “stitch” a series of images together to make one panoramic image. I found the Kodak EasyShare M1073 with face detection for around $165.
