Game Grip for iPhone 3G & iPod Touch

Game Grip

If you want to add that Saturday afternoon gaming experience to your Monday morning office experience, here’s something to add to your collection of iPhone accessories.  Marware’s Game Grip fits both iPhones and the iPod Touch, for a a video game controller feel while playing iPhone games.  But is it useless foam, or finally a worthwhile iPhone gaming attachment? Gizmodo and CrunchGear seem to be voting “useless foam”.

The Game Grip includes silicone grips, a silicone cover for your iPhone, and a silicone cover and spacers for your iPod touch.  You can charge your gadgets with the Game Grip in place, and wear your earbuds or headphones.  The Game Grip is available for pre-order at Marware for $50.  Zowee, 50 clams?

Can iPhones Swim?

What’s with these gadget gurus who try to push their MP3 players and cell phones to the brink of death? Today I was searching for information on how to save a water damaged cell phone, and I ended up finding iPod Touch and iPhone videos with footage of people seriously abusing their electronics.  In fact, there are so many of these videos out there, you would think that iPhones were made for SCUBA divers.

Check out this video of a guy who decides to drop his iPhone in a bucket of water. Do you suppose he just couldn’t help himself?  I think it survived, but I still wouldn’t recommend trying this at home.

Here’s another one of a guy trying to drown an iPod Touch.  Can you say voided warranty?

All this iPod and iPhone abuse is especially shocking when you consider this little blurb about a man who credits his survival after a fall into a frozen pond to the fact that his iPhone survived the ordeal and he was able to call for help.  The moral here is- drown your iPhone today and you just might be sorry tomorrow.

iControlPad: iPhone Can Do Games Now Too (Greaat…)

Being the owner of a Sony Portable PlayStation, I am still a little bitter about the iPhone’s success. The PSP debuted far earlier and if Sony had decided to make it the ultimate portable convergence device, it could have. After all, Sony owns own a huge chunk of the world’s music already, makes cel phones, mp3 devices, video playback devices, and at least until recently, ruled the gaming world as well.  Ah well…

One thing the iPhone has lacked though is games, and a good way to play them, since touchscreens are just, well, irritating for that sort of thing. Not any longer though. Soon, you’ll be able to play your emulators and Apple-sponsored games with full game-pad glory with the iControlPad, which also acts as a protective case for your “Precious”.
